MANASSAS, Va. – The annual Electric Cooperative Youth Tour is a unique opportunity for high school sophomores and juniors to explore Washington, D.C. Students will join others from around the country to tour monuments and museums, meet congressional representatives, learn about electric cooperatives, and enjoy special events and entertainment.
Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) will sponsor up to four students for Youth Tour 2026, set for June 15 to 19. Applicants for the free, week-long adventure must be public, private, or home-schooled current high school sophomores or juniors whose homes are served by NOVEC.
A completed application, essay, and two letters of recommendation must be received by 5 p.m. on Jan. 16, 2026. After reviewing the applications, NOVEC will interview candidates in late February.
NOVEC-sponsored students say that making friends and exploring the nation’s capital are some of their favorite perks of the trip. They enjoy swapping their Virginia co-op pins with students from other parts of the country and competing to see who can collect them from the most states.
